This winter has been a long and hard one for many. The country have had to deal with weather that we're not used to, and it is always one of those periods where things come left field, unforeseen and unexpected. I, personally, have had to deal with some personal issues over Christmas and New Year. The frailty of life was made very obvious to me when my father had a serious health scare, and it is something that had made me so determined to achieve things in life, not only for myself, but for him to be proud of me.
As I mentioned in the last blog posts, and across our social media, there was supposed to be, in January, our inaugural issue of New Edit. This magazine we had planned was going to be a monthly one featuring a focus on fashion, style, and a look back at the heyday of glamour. Of course, with all magazines, you need advertising to keep it circulating, and as much as I would have like to see this blog be turned into a virtual magazine - it is far harder than what you would expect. It took almost a month just to get the format of the magazine together, and we hadn't even scratched the surface of looking for advertisers. Unfortunately, due to legal copyright restrictions, we have had to cancel making the magazine and are restricted to social media. This is a shame, and after putting so much hard work with my contributors, of which some were in America, we were naturally upset.
However, due to our motto of looking to the future, by being influenced by the past, we have learnt from our mistakes and are dedicated more than ever to sharing our community via social media, mainly Facebook and Instagram.
As the years go by, who knows, a real magazine may come through to fruition. As of March, I have gone back to studying and I am now a student with the National Design Academy in Nottingham, studying Interior Design. This is one of my passions, along with writing and fashion, and it will be something that in the future I can hopefully tie the whole together in one magazine. Sharing with you all interiors, art, fashion, writing and beauty.
So, the winter blues have now seemed to fade, and I am personally looking to a better year. The beginning of 2018 may have bought many of us anguish, and a little sadness, but spring is just around the corner and I'm looking forward.
This blog has been left at the way side since the New Year, but me and the small team at New Edit will make sure to keep you all updated and share with you the fashion edits from our social media presence.
