CHRISTY TURLINGTON BURNS

When you think of the late 80's and 90's and supermodels, who comes to your mind? It will undoubtedly be one of the so-called 'Trinity' - Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista or Christy Turlington Burns. Yes there were many other stunning and gorgeous models such as Tatjana Patitz, Cindy Crawford, or Helen Christensen, but for me... personally, Christy had it all. She was and still is an icon of fashion.

This is a post we shared on our instagram: @theneweditmagazine a while ago which showcases just a few of our favourite images of Christy. Photographed by some of the most famous and talented photographers, including Patrick Demerchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Mario Testino, Steven Miesel and many more.

There was something about Christy that captured peoples imaginations, that enamoured us for decades. She hasn't aged either. She is still as beautiful as she was when she first appeared on Vogue. For us at The New Edit, we found that Christy had one of the softest and photogenic faces out of most of the supermodels of the day. Naomi was a little more universal, in that she could adapt to anything, grunge, avant garde or simple street photography. Linda was a little more different. She had a maturity about her, a sophisticated European appeal (all though she is Canadian) It was her eyes that made you look first, whereas Christy it was everything. The lips, the face structure, the hair, the eyes, the legs - everything. Christy had a slight classy, almost aristocratic appeal. That may sound strange now looking back, but she just had that je ne sais quoi that nobody else had.
