We have changed. New Year, New Edit.
Yes we have changed, evolved to be more precise. The Vogue Edit has now evolved into a new brand, new image, new name - #TheNewEdit. The purpose of this change was to divert away from being a 'Vogue' inspired blog, and being a copycat to their style. I wanted to change this to become something new, something fresh, something that fits in the fashion blog market, and hopefully one day become a fashion magazine. The New Edit is identified by showcasing elegance, sophistication and gracefulness - bringing a much loved classiness back to the fashion industry. In a world where everyone wants something new, I thought The New Edit fits perfectly in that mould.
(Take cue from these ladies of a bygone era. The effortless Audrey Hepburn. The sophisticated Grace Kelly. And the all-american loveliness of First Lady Jackie O)
We are diverting from the edginess, avant-garde and surreal that fashion seems to be all about at the moment. Don't get me wrong, we very much admire the fresh talent on the catwalk, where new ideas can be propelled into the mainstream, and take something as shocking as Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh or Vienne Westwood and make them a household name. We very much respect and admire the variety fashion can bring, but we like to think that an old age of elegance and chic can be brought to the same level of notoriety and public awareness. There is a short line of what sophisticated and elegant can look like without it being too old fashioned and grandma chic, which is where we come in.
(A mock cover design of a future vision for The New Edit)
At The New Edit we endeavor to strive to make our vision of grace and elegance something attainable for all women of all ages to enjoy and bring into their lives. Taking cues from a golden age of such elegance and bringing it up to date, using it as a influence not a guideline. We aim to target all women who may not feel they fit within the "terms" the fashion world sets on us - have to be a certain age, certain size, certain background, certain style to carry something off. No, we want to bring our vision of sophistication and graceful air's to you but not become pompous, over-starched with old fashioned ideals, and above all we don't want to be just secular. We believe at The New Edit there is a whole world of such elegance to discover, and brush off the tacky saturated style we are accustom to - where the latest celebrity is scandalized but we only care about what they look like. We are here to make sure we #BringClassBack.
P.S. As you may see from that cover design for The New Edit, we hope to see in the future this turn from a blog into an actual magazine, and celebrate gracefulness of all ages. This including the impressing and charm of Carmen Dell'Orefice - a model who I admire and will celebrate in an article at a later date.
